pretty details

a few more snippets of some pretty things i spotted at bennett galleries in knoxville....
isn't this nailhead trim to die for?
i love how it almost takes on an organic/floral feel.

and THIS detail is one of my faves. i love how little details like this can really add some serious awesomeness to a room.

i really liked this lamp, but what really caught my eye is the shade...

ooo-la-la!
i adore the subtle sheen difference between the shade and the trim. it's uber sophisticated
and so subtle.

i have to admit that there are times when i get tired of seeing so much chevron, but this pillow
is in a class by itself. that linen! that velvet ribbon! SO pretty!
i think i NEED a pillow like this.
not want. NEED.

another beautiful pillow---although i kinda chuckled to myself when i saw it.... and chuckled even harder when i saw the price tag.
i LOVE this fabric, it's one of my favorites. but as gorgeous as it is, it only runs about $30 a yard.
i could have bought 4 yards of fabric and then paid someone to make my pillow for the cost of this one.
you can buy the fabric here.

around town: knoxville, tennessee

the last few days in knoxville were a blast. i got to see lots of family, spend some time with my best friend, eat at some of my favorite spots, and i even managed to sneak in a pedicure and some shopping.
here are a few pictures i took of a few of  my adventures:

this first batch of pictures were taken at cachepot, a floral design and garden boutique that has opened since i moved.
the vibe is relaxed, elegant and earthy.

the touches of moss everywhere added texture and lovely doses of green.

the round frames on these letters are so fun!

i actually HAVE this mercury glass pineapple, so it was fun to see how it was styled with moss and twigs.

 ah....orchids.

if i EVER have birds, this is the type of cage i would want them in!
isn't this so interesting?

those are REAL birds, by the way!

you can never go wrong with orchids....

i was really intrigued with how this succulent was arranged with the clear glass box and the spanish moss.
i love it. i may try to do something like this in my own home.

i liked how this jade plant and the green arrangement above it were put in wire baskets.
simple and elegant.

*****
my next stop was bennett galleries, a long time favorite of mine:
the store has just about everything you could possibly want for the home...furniture, art, light fixtures,
italian antiques, garden urns, accessories, and all kinds of handmade and high-end housewares.
the building it is in used to be a movie theater, and so it is a huge space.

they have a great selection of unique and refined furniture.

 loved this arrangement of art.

this table has dozens of letterpress print blocks under glass...

i sat an looked at it for 5 minutes before i took this picture.
it was SO interesting---such a conversation piece!

a totally cool metal lamp...it had this amazing texture...

everything is really beautiful in this store....
i found myself wanting to burn all the furniture in my home and start from scratch.
:)
they have a great selection of books.

love the embroidery on this chair!

the top of this table is made from petrified wood. i thought it was incredibly beautiful
and completely fascinating.

i seriously wanted to bring this table home with me...but it was about $1500, and i was about $1475 short.
:)

 LOVE, love this lamp. love.

i spotted quite a few paris of ottomans, and these were some of my faves.

another ottoman pair---these in a simple blue velvet.

****
 and finally....when i was getting a pedicure....
i spotted this great looking privacy screening at the nail salon.

simple ball chain hung from the ceiling. not only does this do the job of providing little bit of privacy, but it sparkled when the light hit it, and looked so chic.

i have a few more pictures of some of my favorite details that i will be sharing tomorrow. see you then!

knox-vegas

knox-vegas.
that is knoxville, tennessee natives teasingly call their hometown...and where i will be the rest of the week.

knoxville is where i met my husband.
where two of my kids were born.
where i spent most of my adult life.
home to my parents,
my in-laws,
my brother and his family,
and two of my husbands sisters and their families.
it was home to my little family for nearly a decade, and still feels like home to me.
i haven't been back since we moved in the summer of 2008, (our trip last summer was to alabama and florida and we didn't get to visit tennessee) so i am looking forward to seeing how things have changed.

i will be checking my email everyday still, but it might take me a little longer than normal to reply!
i will be on southern time. eating catfish fingers. hanging out with my bff.
meeting THREE nieces that have been born since i have lived in the west...one that was JUST born on sunday!

i might even be taking some fun pictures to share with you when i get back.
see you next week!

by the way, my email account was hacked this morning.
sorry if you received a request for me to wire you money from madrid.
sheesh.
as a result, my account was locked wile they do some investigating, so if you were
expecting an email from me, be patient.
i won't be able to access my account for 24 hours....

print source:print collection

i am always looking for places to find affordable and unique art and prints. a few months ago, i was
introcuded to print collection. the owner, doug sent me an email, and i immediately liked what i saw.
their collection has a great selection of vintage architectural prints, some unique and colorful botanical prints, and a great collection of interesting prints that i have never seen anywhere else.

i bought this one for grady's room.
it's so perfect, i can hardly stand it!

doug sent me these two samples to review:
"geranium varieties"

i already have the perfect frame for this "buffalo running" print. i just need to take it to my local framers and get it set.

the prints are clear and crisp, and appear just as they do online. the paper they are printed on was also high quality. sometimes i hesitate to order prints online, because they are sometimes printed on flimsy or inferior paper. NOT the case with this company!

i was really pleased with how quickly the items were shipped, and the care with which they were packed.
the smaller "g" print arrived in a very sturdy flat parcel, and the two larger prints arrived in a 3" diameter tube. all three came in thick plastic sleeves to prevent sticking or damage.

print collection has also agreed to be my newest sponsor....so look for the button on my sidebar and click on it for a direct link to their shop. new items are being added daily, so be sure and check them out regularly.
here are a few that we added this week:

happy shopping!
